My final post! Final words and advice

Hey y’all!

This will be my last post in this series. Before I go, I have a few reminders:

The most important part of these trips is finding what will make you the happiest. If you will be happies living near a beach with other English speakers, Australia might be your go. If you want to be challenged by a language that you are learning, by all means, go to that country if you get the chance! If what makes you happiest is furthering your career, you may want to stay within the country and get something in your career field.

Once you find where you want to go, start connecting with people and do your research on the trip! Ideally you would have already done most of your research, but make sure the living conditions are not atrocious or anything. After that, start making connections. It is more comforting in the days leading up to your departure when you already know someone. Find a roommate if you get to pick one, find a friend, or at least introduce yourself if there is a group page in Facebook.

Research your job as much as possible before you go so you can be as prepared as possible. If anything, you will be better prepared than anyone else. See if there is a program you need to familiarize yourself with, or if there are certain clothes you need to bring so you don’t have to buy them there.

If you have not read them already, check out the posts I have made for a few programs. I have posts for Busch Gardens Williamsburg and Water Country USA, the Disney College Program, and several international programs including places like Australia, Argentina, and Ireland. In these posts, I also have websites to example agencies to take a look at. Many times, it is a lot easier to go through an agency than to find programs yourself.

With that being said, that concludes my advice.

Lastly, thank you for coming back each week! I appreciate those who have engaged in my social media’s and I hope I did not annoy you too much. By writing this blog, I hope to have opened some eyes to the opportunities that are out there to travel the world without going completely broke. I have had a lot of fun getting to research these opportunities even more, share the stories of those who have participated, and finding best ways to plan the trip.

I hope I have encouraged you to at the very least research some opportunities! As always, contact me with any questions, comments, or concerns.

Thanks again,

Matt

I got interested in work-travel programs when I started working at Water Country USA where I met international students participating in work-travel. I love traveling and even better, I love planning the trips. Give me a follow!
